You’ve waited ages for your little bundle of joy – now finally they are here! So why do you feel a little weepy and sad? It could be the Baby Blues.

 

Around 70% of women experience the Baby Blues after having a baby, usually 3 or 4 days after giving birth. With all those hormones racing round your body, the aches and pains caused by the birth, not to mention the tiredness that comes with looking after your newborn, it's no wonder you feel a bit anxious and tearful. It can help to let your feelings out – perhaps you could tell your partner or family about how you feel.

 

Try to get some rest if you can, or have a relaxing soak in the bath. The feelings should pass within a couple of days. Try to be good to yourself, you’re doing the hardest job in the world and remember it’s perfectly normal to experience feelings like this.
