Homemade playdough

What you need:

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup water

What to do:

Why pay dough for playdough when you can make your own? All you do is mix flour and salt together in a saucepan, then slowly stir in the oil and water. With the saucepan on a low heat, you keep stirring the mixture. Once the dough becomes hard to stir and comes away from the sides - that means it’s done. It’s best to leave it cool for a while. Then you can knead it, by rolling and pressing into the dough until it’s squishy.

Your toddler will love squeezing it and pressing it into shapes. And you can talk about what you’re making. If you’re feeling arty, you can roll the dough back into a ball, then stick some ears on top to make a rabbit! It can be used again and again too, by storing it in an air-tight container.

Keep Safe: try to make sure your child is in a high chair or at a safe distance when you use the cooker.
