Relax on an Autumn afternoon and read your wee one a nice story. When you've read a book a couple of times, and it's become a firm favourite, you can start to make things more interesting! When you're reading, leave out a word and wait for your wee one to fill in the gap. Point at the picture to help them along and say the word slowly if they're having trouble. It's a brilliant way to help them remember which words go with which pictures!
