Imagine you’ve been lying down your whole life, and then, one day, you learn to sit up. Once your wee one is upright, they can see more of the world, and what an exciting world it is!

Putting cushions around your baby helps to guard against any unexpected bumps or scrapes if they’re still a bit wobbly. When they learn to sit unsupported properly, though, your baby will want to make their presence felt! Noisy toys and things that rattle or squeak are great fun at this stage. Try shaking a rattle for them – they might try to copy you – and then try to eat it! Babies put things in their mouths to explore how different things feel, so try to make sure they stay away from anything that’s small enough to swallow.

Other than that, everything is fair game to get dribbled on – even you! Now they’re getting more confident at sitting up, bath time becomes much more fun too. It’s important to make sure you stay close by to catch them in case they slip, but get ready for lots of splishing and splashing – and a bit of a soaking!
