When you’re out with your wee one in the pram, talk about the birds you see and the noises they make. Even in a city there is a lot of wildlife to be found.

If you see a blackbird, say its name and point at it. Do the same when you feed the ducks in the park – say ‘There’s a duck’ and ‘Quack Quack!’ In town, ask your child what noise a pigeon makes- ‘coo!’

Making bird sounds might seem a bit ‘cuckoo’ to an adult, but it really helps with your wee one’s language skills!
